Pas Threatens Felda Settlers On Land Premiums

Gua Musang, Mac 31 - Pas is taking desperate measures as Kelantan's revenue deteriorating.

In recent development, the Pas-led government has forced the Felda settlers to pay their land premiums or face the possibillity losing their lands.

Instead of trying to ask the payment from Felda's management, As those settlers' land are under Felda agricultural programmes, Pas threatened those settlers that it would not issue their land entitlement if they fail to pay RM3,400 land premiums.
Barisan Nasional (BN) of Paloh State Assemblyman, Datuk Nozula Mat Diah urged the felda settlers not to pay to the state as it has no right to force them.

He said Felda has been developing the lands whether in rubber or palm oil estates and the state government should counsult with Felda for the land premiums payment as it is the entity reponsible to those lands and not the settlers.

"Actually the Pas state does not have sufficient income in their coffers to pay for their state civil servants, thus they threatens these poor settlers," he told Kelatekito.net

It was believed the state made the announcement since early this month that the land entitlement would be issued by the state if the settlers paid their land premiums.

According to Pas sources, the payment threat was meant for the party to generate its fund for the coming general election which is expected to be held either end of this year or early next year.
